When you open an Al Mumayaz Account at Bank Sohar you will receive an Excel Visa Debit Electron card. The Bank Sohar Visa Debit Electron Card can be used for cash withdrawals via ATMs and for payment of purchases via Point-of-Sale machines. The card can be used in Oman and worldwide at over one million ATMs and 29 million merchant locations where Visa Electron cards are accepted. Use of the card for cash withdrawal at OmanSwitch ATMs is free of charge for the Bank’s customers.
Bank Sohar’s Visa Debit Electron Card is an unembossed magnetic stripe Visa Electron product. By virtue of being a debit card, the card will be linked directly to the customer’s account and every transaction will result in a direct debit of that account. There is no membership fee for the Bank Sohar Visa Debit Electron Card and it will be issued to all customers free of charge. There is no interest to be paid and the extent of use of the debit card will be the available balance of funds in the customer’s account.
Existing customers are now using a proprietary Bank Sohar ATM card with limited functions. These cards will be replaced and every active account* holder will now receive the new Bank Sohar Visa Debit Electron Card. These customers will need to visit their respective branches prior to January 1, 2009 to collect their new Visa Debit Electron Card.
